About me

An educator in multiple spheres all my life, I have worked in the field of educational technology at the University of Cape Town for over a decade, previously working in publishing in Zimbabwe and South Africa. The recent Director of the Centre for Educational Technology, I have been seconded to head up The OpenUCT Initiative this year.

This Initiative is a critical vehicle positioning UCT to engage with opening scholarship globally and locally, specifically from a southern perspective. The Initiative will make  UCT- generated shareable scholarly resources freely available online.

My research interests include open scholarship broadly, scholarly communication, students’ digitally-mediated practices, digital identities and the field of learning technology as a scholarly domain.
Some of my presentations are on Slideshare, and I am on  http://uct.academia.edu/LauraCzerniewiz and I have a Linkedin profile.  I am on Twitter as @czernie; that is  probably the best place to follow what I’m up to at the moment.

Laura.

  1. Lovely lecture. I’ll follow your Twitter from now on.

Sounds quite congruent with what we do, and how we think, at LATINA – see links at my home page.
